News Release: 4/17/2006 Be Ready for Ten Commandments Day

Amazing Facts is joining 3ABN for a special weekend of Ten Commandment broadcasts, beginning May 5 and continuing through May 7. On Friday, May 5, at 11:00 p.m. EST, Pastor Doug will revisit the fourth commandment and explain its prominent role in every Christian home. Then the Evergreen Seventh-day Adventist Church shows the "live" broadcast the following day in part during the 11 AM service and at 2:00 p.m. EST, as pastor Doug powerfully consider the full spectrum of the sixth commandment in believers’ thoughts and actions. Call the church office at 330.726.1645 for complete schedule times of this event or check back on this site as times my adjust for additional broadcasts.

Be sure to watch Pastor Doug and 3ABN’s entire broadcast, as on May 7, 2006, churches across America, including the Evergreen SDA Church are setting aside time to honor God’s Ten Commandments while also supporting their increased role in American society and government.

Pastor Doug remains cautiously optimistic about the Ten Commandments Day nationwide event. He says, “A day when churches rediscover the Ten Commandments represents a turning point and potentially a prophetic landmark. We have to remember that while acknowledging the eternal goodness of God’s law, we must also be wary of the political consequences such a day might bring.”

At the same time, Pastor Doug believes it is an unprecedented opportunity to reach people who might not know the full stakes regarding God’s law in their lives. “We can now more easily walk through the door of opportunity to share the whole truth of the Ten Commandments with our Christian friends. We can show them that the patience of the saints is really about keeping all of God’s Law, not just the ones we find convenient.”

In the Heart
In the upcoming May/June 2006 issue of the Inside Report, Pastor Doug and Clifford Goldstein will address the controversy surrounding the Ten Commandments in the Christian church. The following is an excerpt from their article:

The most important place to display the law is in our hearts. “For this is the covenant that I will make … saith the Lord; I will put my laws into their mind, and write them in their hearts: and I will be to them a God, and they shall be to me a people” (Jer. 31:31; Heb. 8:10).

The heart is where the law can do its work, not to save us, but to show that we are saved, to show that we love God, and that our love is expressed through our obedience to His commandments. “For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous” (1 John 5:3).

Until that law is in our hearts, we can have Ten Commandments Day every week and it still won’t make a difference—at least not where it really matters.
